Abstract
It is well-known that there is some racial difference in the frequency of the primary malignancy of the liver. The primary malignancy of the liver is one of thy rather common malignancies among Koreans"), Japanese and in some other areas of the world". The most common primary malignancy of the liver is hepatocellular hepatoma.
However, the cystoadenocarcinoma of the liver is one of rare conditions and only several cases . have been reported in the world-wide literature as 1, 5,70, 12).
The authors sear.:h the histogenesis of this malignancy on the embryologic viewpoints and by the methods of histochemistry.
On histochemical studies, this malignant cells represent similar reaction with that of epithelia of the small intestine, which has similar embryologic background. But their reactions are rathermore similar with that of biliary epithelia than that of the epithelia of the small intesine. And there is no similarities with that of normal liver cells or cells of the hepatocellular hepatoma of the liver in this examination. As a conclusion, the authors would prefer the intrahepatic biliary epithelia, as a primary site of this malignancy.
